President’s Message (January, 2023)

A Message From the President, January 27, 2023

Greetings, APTA Indiana Members and Happy New Year.

I am fortunate to have been elected to work with such a dedicated and talented group of professionals. As the new APTA Indiana President, I hit the ground running! We had our first Board of Directors meeting earlier this week. It is evident that you are in good hands with this Board.

The APTA Indiana Legislative Committee is hard at work, representing you, the membership, with legislative concerns. Thanks to Valerie Strunk, PT, DPT, for doing an amazing job addressing the needs of this Chapter, as our new Legislative Committee Chair!

We are anxiously awaiting the final Rules from the IPLA, related to dry needling and the PT Compact legislation that was previously passed. Members recently received an email requesting feedback related to the language. Click HERE to comment on the Draft Rules.

Please consider volunteering to serve on an APTA Indiana committee, with legislative advocacy efforts, or in other areas. We are always updating our website to bring you the latest information on events, educational opportunities, meetings, etc…I would also ask that you consider surveying your colleagues and co-workers, encouraging them to join APTA, if they are not currently a member. As the Old English proverb says, ”many hands make light work”. Adding to our membership can allow us to do so much more. This is a task for each of us.

Please know that we are working hard on behalf of APTA Indiana members and the patients/clients that we serve, in our mission to: Maximize the lifelong health, function, and well-being of people in Indiana by advancing the profession of physical therapy through engagement, advocacy and education.

I look forward to serving as your President. Thanks for the opportunity!

Kind Regards,

Paul Lonnemann, PT, DPT
