Special Olympic Athletes Enjoy a Day with FUNfitness

Over 60 Physical Therapy volunteers, including local clinicians and Indiana State University DPT students and faculty, provided fitness screens as well as education (in the areas of flexibility, strength, balance, and aerobic fitness) to Special Olympics athletes during the Summer Games in Terre Haute on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

Dr. Stasia Tapley and Dr. Howell Tapley, State Clinical Directors for Special Olympics Indiana, coordinated the event. The FUNfitness program was designed in collaboration with Special Olympics and the APTA; it is offered worldwide, but has never before been provided to Indiana athletes.

Maximize the lifelong health, function, and well-being of people in Indiana by advancing the profession of physical therapy through engagement, advocacy and education.
