This class is intended to assist the clinician in maintaining their primary focus on enabling patient independence from the medical system including the need for PT.
Indiana Orthopedic & Manual Therapy SIG Meeting
It is that time of year again…Time for a Manual Therapy SIG Meeting! Sarah Lengar, who presented on the Coccyx previously, volunteered again to present techniques that you can try on patients that may have a TMJ component to their pain, something you can try even if you feel like that is not your forte. Here is a brief description of what she would be presenting:
“The way I treat TMJ is to first treat cranial sutures to get to the mastoid process then treat C1-2 to make sure that is out of the way and THEN treat TMJ. So, even if people don’t treat TMJ, everyone treats the neck and at the very least the assessment for position and movement dysfunction at C1-2 would be important for everyone!”
She learned these techniques through Institute of Physical Arts, and I, for one, am anxious to see them and learn them! Sarah has her manual therapy certification from IPA, is also certified in dry needling, trained in Visceral Manipulation, women’s health, and all manners of good stuff.
When: Thursday March 1, 2018 – 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
Where: Glendale Clinic – Glendale Medical Closet (see directions attached)
Please RSVP as we will be ordering pizza. If there are handouts, we like to have enough of those handy as well. If anyone in attendance knows how to create You Tube videos and wants to come and share that skill, (and teach me), we could possibly make this in-service available to everyone in the SIG.
