Physical Therapy Compact Update (June 2022)

In 2021, House Bill 1405, ‘carrying’ the PT Compact language, passed both the House and the Senate during the final few days of the 2021 legislative session. This statute went into law on January 1, 2022. From this point, the work between the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) and the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) began. It can take up to 12 months for a state’s licensing agency and the FSBPT to establish the working relationship to allow for PT Compact privileges to be issued. We are hopeful, that in early 2023, it will be possible to obtain PT Compact privileges in Indiana.

The PT Compact website is a wonderful resource with details of what the PT Compact is, which states are participating, etc…

If you have any questions about the PT Compact, please contact Emily Slaven, PT, PhD at slavene@uindy.edu.
